CLEP is a national program of credit-by-examination that offers individuals the opportunity to earn college credit for achievement acquired through formal study, personal reading, on-the-job- experience, adult school, noncredit courses, or televised/taped courses.
To take CLEP examinations:
- pay a $25 non-refundable, non transferable service fee (per exam) in the Cashier's Office
- bring receipt to the Testing Center and obtain registration materials prior to the test date

My Account is a self-service feature that enables candidates to create and manage their own personal accounts, register/prepay for CLEP exams and purchase study materials all in one place.
All candidates (with the exception of certain test-takers with disabilities) must register and pay their exam fee via the My Account Registration Portal.
Testing centers do not create registrations or collect payment for exam fees ($80). Southwest does collect a $25 administrative fee prior to scheduling the CLEP exam. Candidate data is automatically downloaded to the test center during check-in.
Appointment scheduling is handled by each individual test center, not via My Account. During the exam registration process, candidates will indicate their preferred test center. Selecting a preferred test center does not reserve a space or guarantee an appointment at the test center.
My Account has no information regarding seating capacities at test centers. Therefore, candidates must contact their preferred test center to schedule an appointment to test. For additional information visit the Locations/Hours of Operation page.
Once a candidate registers and pays the exam fee via the My Account Registration Portal, he or she will be able to review/print the CLEP Exam Registration Ticket. In addition, the candidate will also receive an automated email confirming the registration and notifying him/her to print the registration ticket, along with other pre/post test day reminders. A CLEP Exam Registration Ticket is valid for six months; the expiration date will be printed on the ticket.
If you have questions regarding My Account or the CLEP Exam Registration Ticket, please contact CLEP Services at 800-257-9558/609-771-7865, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please visit the College Board CLEP Exam Day Info page (near the bottom) and review the acceptable forms of ID. Also, please review prohibited items: i.e. hats (unless worn as a religious requirement), hoodies, watches, pencils, etc.
Effective July 1, 2014, one form of government-issued identification will be acceptable for CLEP test-takers. A secondary form of ID will no longer be required. The primary identification must be valid and current, must bear the test-taker's full name in English language characters, and must contain a photograph and a signature.
Students enrolled in Learning Early Academic Program (LEAP) or Learning Support must complete the required course(s) to be eligible to take specific CLEP Exams (i.e. English, math, natural science, social science, and history). There are four two-hour testing sessions held each exam date: 8 a.m., 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m.

A revised CLEP retest policy will take effect on Friday, October 17, 2014. The new policy allows for exams to be repeated after a three (3) month waiting period.
Please note that the policy change is not retroactive, so candidates who have tested prior to October 17, 2014 must still wait six (6) months before retaking the same exam.
If you retake the examination within the six-month period, your administration will be considered invalid, your score will be canceled and any test fees will be forfeited.
