The Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance (TECTA) orientation sessions offer 30 hours of training in each of five specialty areas. The Orientations are fun workshop style trainings that cover the basics of caring for children in a group setting. The orientation sessions are approved as training for Department of Human Services (DHS) continuing education hours and are a part of the star rating report card.

  • infant/toddler care (for teachers of children ages birth–3)
  • center based care (for teachers of children ages 3-5)
  • family child care (for providers who provide child care in their home)
  • school age care (for providers who work with school age children after school)
  • child care administration (child care/early childhood managers and directors)

General information to know about TECTA Orientations:

  • Only three people per child care center can attend each orientation session.
  • You must attend all 30 hours (10 modules) to receive a certificate.
  • You may only miss two modules (three hour sessions) and make them up at a later date. If you miss more than two modules you must restart the Orientation at another time.
