If selected for verification, the student must complete a Verification Worksheet, submit copies of the parent(s)/student/spouse Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Federal Tax Transcript and copies of all W-2s from employers, and any other untaxed income documentation to Southwest. The Financial Aid Office may request other information upon review.
Students are selected for verification by the Department of Education. Institutions must verify the information provided by the student/spouse and/or parents before an award can be offered to the student. Southwest students who are selected for verification will receive a request from the Financial Aid Office at Southwest for the required verification documents. It is very important to respond promptly to all requests for verification information from the Financial Aid Office. Delays in response or submission of incomplete verification documentation will delay the offer of a student financial aid award package.
Please contact the Financial Aid Office at Southwest if you have questions or if you are unsure if you have been selected for verification.

In an effort to adhere to federal privacy laws, the Southwest Financial Aid Office restricts the release of certain private student information. Students must contact us personally to check the status of their financial aid application and awards. Due to the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), often we will be unable to release information to third parties (i.e., parents, spouses, etc.) without a signed release form on file from the student. To sign a Release of Information form, students must complete the form in person in the Admissions and Records Office or the Financial Aid Office on either the Macon Cove and Union Avenue campuses.
