Students who have been determined to be in default on a prior student loan, or who owe a refund on a grant or any other school funds, will not be eligible for financial aid until they are determined to be in good standing.
Students who do not maintain satisfactory academic progress as stated in the Southwest Tennessee Community College catalog may lose their financial aid eligibility either on a probationary or permanent basis. Incomplete grades will also result in financial aid being cancelled, since a grade point average cannot be calculated with an "I" grade. (See standards listed below.)
Federal regulations prohibit students from receiving federal funding for more than 30 hours of remedial and developmental courses. If a student exceeds 30 hours in remedial and developmental courses, financial aid may be cancelled or reduced until all remedial and developmental classes are successfully completed.
Students must attend classes throughout the semester in order to maintain their eligibility for assistance. Students who receive all F’s or F’s and W’s due to non-attendance will be required to repay the financial assistance based on the last documented date of class attendance. It will be the student’s responsibility to obtain documentation to verify the last day of attendance (see Unofficial Withdrawal policy on he Admissions, Records, and Recruitment web site for more information.)
