This checklist is designed to assist new students in the admission and
registration process. If you have questions
about any of the requirements, please contact

Complete an
application for Southwest. You may apply online, or print an application from http://www.southwest.tn.edu/ApplyOnline.htm. |
 |
Submit your application
and pay $10 application fee to Cashier's Office at any of Southwest's
locations or mail your completed application and $10 fee (Check or Money
Order) to:

Request that an
"Official" copy of your high school/GED scores, college transcript(s),
be sent to the address above. |
 |
Complete the
Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Hepatitis B vaccination forms in the Admissions
Application. |
 |
Apply for
Financial Aid (if applicable).
- Federal Pell Grants are available as well
as scholarships.
- To determine if there is need for
assistance; Southwest uses the "Free Application for Federal Student Aid"
(available online at
http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/), which
takes into consideration the factors that affect a family’s financial
status. An application is also available on any of the
campuses/centers/sites.

Complete testing
requirements.
- If you are under age 21 you will need to
submit your official ACT® scores. If you have not taken the ACT®, contact the Testing Office
for a testing schedule. Dates are also posted on the
Testing Center's Web site.
If you have taken the test, your scores should be on your high school
transcripts.
- If you are over 21 you must schedule an
appointment to take the COMPASS™ test.
(Computerized Adaptive Placement Assessment and Support System/English as
a Second Language (COMPASS/ESL).
- Note: The COMPASS™ test is
administered continuously throughout the semester. Make plans to come in
and test at your convenience and avoid the rush at Registration. For more
information about the COMPASS™ test please contact the Testing Centers.

Complete New
Student Advising.
- Required for all new, degree seeking students
- New Student Advising Sessions allow you to meet with an academic advisor, receive pertinent information, register for classes and more.
- Please call Advising and Counseling to schedule a time for New Student Advising at either the Macon Cove (901-333-4594) or Union Avenue (901-333-5122) Campuses.

Pay all of your
tuition fees, or ensure that your financial aid is in place that covers the full tuition for your courses. |

Have your Student
ID made.
- Your Student ID is required for borrowing
books from the library and selling textbooks.
- Student IDs may be obtained from the Student Activities and Multicultural Affairs office at the Macon Cove (Farris 1101) or Union Avenue (B Building, Room 106)
Campuses.

Get your "Parking
Permit."
|
 |
Purchase your
textbooks.
- Go to either of the main campuses to
purchase your textbooks, or order your books online via http://www.efollett.com.
- Textbooks for the Macon Cove Campus, Whitehaven
Center,
and Millington Center can only be purchased at the Macon Cove Campus after the first week of
class. Textbooks for the Union Avenue Campus, Maxine A. Smith Center, and Gill Center can only be purchased
at Union Avenue Campus after the first week of class.
