ALEKS Placement Assessment

Assessment and LEarning in Knowledge Spaces (ALEKS) is a powerful artificial intelligence based mechanism to assess math proficiency and skill level. Students have the option to use the ALEKS software to bypass pre-requisite courses. ALEKS uses adaptive questioning to quickly and accurately determine exactly what a student knows and doesn’t know in a course. After the initial placement assessment test of approximately 30 questions, ALEKS will provide students a targeted Prep and Learning Module that may be accessed for up to six weeks to improve course placement. Within each Prep and Learning Module, students are instructed on topics they are most ready to learn. As a student works through the module, ALEKS periodically reassesses the student to ensure that topics are also retained.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) concerning ALEKS are listed below.

How much does the ALEKS assessment cost?

Students will pay $40 for the ALEKS placement test which includes six weeks of online remediation and one reassessment test.

Where do I register to take the ALEKS assessment?

Students will need to register in the Mathematics Department for the test. The department is located on the Macon Cove Campus, Whitehead Building, Room 39, or call 901-333-4474.

How do I interpret my score?
